Thomas John Panchak, 84, of Lambertville, Michigan, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 31, 2008 in the home of his daughter and son-in-law. Tom was born April 6, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, twelve brothers and sisters, his loving wife, June, of fifty years, and daughter, Nadine. Tom was a United States Marine Corp. veteran, serving in World War II. After the war, he began his career with the Mellocraft Company as a salesman. Tom was an accomplished woodworker and avid hunter and fisherman, spending many weekends at their cabin in Onaway, Michigan. He also greatly enjoyed golfing with his wife and friends. In 1980, Tom and June moved to St. Petersburg, Florida and spent 10 wonderful years being entrepreneurs in the bar and restaurant business, where they made many friendships along the way. In 1990, they returned to their hometown of Toledo, Ohio to finally retire. After the death of his wife, Tom moved to the home of his daughter and son-in-law's, Sandy and Ken, where he shared many joys throughout the years.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra (Ken) Groch of Lambertville, MI; Diane (Lance) Lichtenwalter of Lake Park, GA and Pamela (Rob) Link of Dade City, FL. and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Dr. Thomas McAlear and his staff for all of their care and support.
A special thank you goes to Tom's granddaughter, Michelle Schroeder and her husband Martin Schroeder, for all the love, care and comfort they gave to their grandfather during his last few weeks with us.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 5-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Adalbert Parish, Toledo.
