Thomas Ferris, Jr.

Thomas P. Ferris, Jr, age 72, of Sylvania, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Flower Hospital. He was born on September 13, 1935 to Thomas P. and Freda (Hartzell) Ferris, Sr. in Toledo. Thomas was a veteran of the U.S Army serving as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He worked for 32 years at Columbia Gas as a pipe fitter and later an inspector. Thomas was an avid Notre Dame fan. He also owned and bred Irish Wolfhounds since 1973. Thomas will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his most recent wife, Laura Lee. Thomas is survived by his loving children: Laura (Gary) Abbott, Patrick (Jackie) Ferris, Maureen (Scott) Brady and Father Timothy Ferris; and 6 grandchildren.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) at 9:30 a.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Historic Downtown, 130 Avondale Ave., Toledo. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
