Thomas Edward Fairbairn
01/27/1924 – 04/02/2022
Tom was born in Highland Park Michigan and was the son of Thomas and Marie (Snay) Fairbairn. He grew up in Point Place. He was the senior class president of Macomber Vocational High School, class of 1942 graduating with honors. He joined the Navy in 1943 where he was an Electronics and Radar Tech and continued working as a civilian after WWII, reaching the level of GS15.
Tom was a brilliant man who attended The University of Toledo majoring in Physics and Mathematics and was a pioneer in the early days of radio and television. Building off of what he had learned and experienced at Texas A & M Naval College, he worked for the first broadcasting network in the United States, NBC in New York City. Stating first in radio he later became a camera man and also created sound effects and equipment used in those days. He wrote books and was an inventor holding many patents. One of the books he wrote is called "The Wit Particle." Even though he held to no religion, the book is based on what some call the "God Particle" it blends the ideals of both evolution and intelligent design together into one universal theorem.
Tom invented the Atmospheric Electron Particle Beam (AEPB) and later founded FRIPRP Energy, LLC. It is interesting to note that years later Elon Musk is working with the same technology Tom invented with Space X's "Beamed Energy Propulsion" (BEP). Like Nikola Tesla it will probably be generations until his particle beam technology will be truly appreciated. This technology may someday take us to other worlds.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and three siblings; Elizabeth Fairbairn-Young, Robert Fairbairn and Charles Fairbairn. Living to almost 100 years old he leaves a long list of those who love him behind.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 4210 West Central Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43606.
