Thomas E. Williams passed away in Florida after a courageous
battle with leukemia. He was 78.
Born to Eleanor and Ellis Williams on November 28, 1935
Thomas graduated from Woodward High School, joined the Army
and served in England. He began work in the mailroom at Willy's
Overland Motors while attending night school at the University of
Toledo. His career in the automobile industry spanned over 30
years, various promotions and several company mergers. He
retired from Chrysler as a financial analyst in 1991.
A devoted family man, Thomas served as scout leader, baseball
coach and Jackman School volunteer. He enjoyed large family
gatherings with his siblings and their extended families. Thomas
adored his grandchildren and relished every opportunity to supply
them with candy, cookies and doughnuts. Although a man of few
words Thomas' quiet demeanor disguised his mastery of tools,
household maintenance and engine repair. If something broke,
Thomas could fix it.
Thomas is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Gerry; his
children: Gregory (Janet) Williams, Lori (Andrew) Coates, and
Gary (Julie) Williams; his siblings: Robert (Ellen) Williams,
Richard (Arlene) Williams, Judy Frantz, Sue (Gary) Leach, and
David (Sue) Williams; and his grandchildren: Zachary and Tyler
Williams, and Noah, Harriet and Evelyn Coates. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Waterstone and brothers, James and Gary Williams.
