Thomas E. "Tom" Grimes, age 72, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at home. He was born on March 18, 1943 to Walter and Marjorie (Chaney) Grimes in Toledo. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was the Navy Representative for the Color guard at Arlington National Cemetery and also served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Tom retired from Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant, Perrysburg, after 30 years of service. He was the Verson Press operator for many years and retired as a Forklift operator. Tom was an avid fisherman and loved to build radio controlled boats. He was proud to be on the committee that helped re-design the pond landscaping at The Waterford at Levis Commons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandy Braatz and Diane Outland; niece, Kristine Outland; nephews, Todd and Jason Grimes; and sister-in-law, Linda (Holt) Grimes. Tom is survived by his loving children, Michele (Brian) Kopp, Timothy (Theresa) and Matthew (Jennifer) Grimes; grandchildren, Alyssa, Drew, Maddison, Mallory and Macie; siblings, Linda (Norm) Freshour, Randy (Jackie) Grimes and Karen (Ben) Gilliam; brothers-in-law, Michael Outland and Paul (Linda) Braatz; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Clarence Gardner. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
