Thomas Barton Crawford, age 81, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2022, at his home. Thomas was born on May 30, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Orla and Catherine (Fuhr) Crawford.
Thomas graduated from Fairborn High School, class of 1959. After high school, he continued his education at Wittenberg University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in political science. Thomas proudly served in the United States Army, and during that time, he was a commanding officer in Vietnam during 1968-1969. He received a Combat Infantry badge, Good Conduct medal, Vietnam service ribbons, Army Commendation medal with "V" device for valor, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. Thomas was a member of the West Toledo Kiwanis Club for 38 years, where he was Governor Ohio district Kiwanis from 2001-2002. Thomas was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later…
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Elizabeth (David) Harmon; special friends, Joyce (Jeff) Rhodes and their children, Ella and Christopher; granddaughter, Hayden Catherine Harmon; grandson, Austin Cammack Harmon; two nieces, Diane MacLeod and Denise Moeller; and a nephew, David Crawford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by his loving wife, Mary Lou Crawford, whom he married on June 23, 1973; son, Thomas Edward Crawford; and brother, William Crawford.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 11:00 am, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 5240 Talmadge Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43623. Thomas will be laid to rest, next to his wife and son, at Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love memorial contributions to be made to the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation, P.O. Box 668, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
