Thomas P. Baker

Thomas P. "Tom" Baker, age 89, of Sylvania, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born on March 29, 1934 to John and Lillian Lucille (Yoder) Baker in Toledo, OH. Tom graduated from Waite High School. He was employed with Canteen Vending for over 35 years until retiring. Tom was a longtime member of Five Lakes Church, formerly known as McCord Road Christian Church. He enjoyed making stained glass, was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. Tom liked spending time with friends and family. His smile, spirit and caring nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Baker; son, Thomas P. Baker, Jr.; and brothers, Donald Baker Sr. and Glenn Baker Sr. Left to cherish Tom's memory are his loving children, Nancy (Doug Kurdys) Hazlett and Mark (Tisa Penfield) Baker, Sr.; grandchildren, Mark Baker, Jr., Gregory Baker, and Jesse (Emily) Baker; great-grandchildren, Jaden Baker, Barbara Jean Baker, Emma Baker and Max Baker; sister-in-law, Margaret Baker; stepchildren, Lisa (Bob) Carter and Kent Bevil; step-grandchildren, Lindsey Karger, T.J. Couture, Adam (Taylor) Bevel and Grant Bevel; step-great-granddaughter, Ava Karger; and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo 43617 (419-395-9500). Funeral Services will begin Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
