Thomas Arthur Bigley, age 69, passed away Thursday, May 02, 2013, after a very long 18 year battle with cancer. Tom resided in Gibsonburg, Ohio with his wife, Beverly.
Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio, on December 17, 1943 to parents Wallace and Helen (Cronk)Bigley.
Tom served his country proudly and honorably in the US Army from 1965- 1968, including two tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, of 45 years happy marriage, and his son, Timothy Bigley, also of Gibsonburg.
Surviving are his sisters, Carol (Jim) Rhoades of Whitehouse, Ohio, Kathy (Clarence) Hertzfeld of Waterville, Ohio and his brother, Glenn (Arlene) Bigley of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bonnie Bigley of Toledo, Ohio and Nancy Moore, of Toledo, Ohio.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center for all their care and support for the past 18 years. Also, a special "Thank You" to Hospice of Northwest Ohio/Perrysburg for the kindness and wonderful caring assistance they provided Tom and his family for the past three months.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Military honors will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday followed by a Sharing of Memories Service in the funeral home. Those wishing to send an expression of sympathy, it was Tom's wish that donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio/Perrysburg.
