Theodore Paul Sharlow

June 12, 1929 — January 25, 2021

Theodore (Ted) passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 from cancer. He was born on June 12, 1929 to Otto Sharlow and Anna (Cutcher) Sharlow. He grew up in East Toledo with his mother and stepfather Russell Steadman. Ted attended both Waite and Macomber High Schools and the University of Toledo.

Ted served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. After being discharged he returned to work at Libbey Owens Ford. He married Vivian Mollett, and moved to Maumee, Ohio where they raised their children. He worked at Davison Crane and Conveyor for over 30 years as the General Manager, where he was involved in the design and build of many innovative manufacturing systems, until his retirement.

Community involvement included St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee, Ohio, Maumee Little League, Delta Motor Cross Sports, Indian Guides, Boy Scouts and Waite Alumni Club. His interests included boating, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends at Little Pleasant Lake in Three Rivers, Michigan, his lake home on Hemlock Lake in Hillsdale, Michigan and winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He was extremely giving of his time and energy, and would do anything to help anyone. In later years they moved to Sunset House in Toledo. They were known there for their sweet bond and dedication to one another, frequently holding hands and sitting in quiet solitude.

Ted is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Vivian; children Karen (Dean) Schlichting of Holland, Ohio and Gary (Rebecca) Sharlow of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren Stace (Gino) Torio, Andrea (Joe) Rigg, Nathan (Tara) Warnock, Olivia Sharlow, Stephanie (Nils) Sharlow/Berglund, Lee Ann Weir and Marty (Malia) Schlichting; great grandchildren Jordan, Madison, Ashlen, Dominic, Rocco, Payton, Nicholas, Avery, Connor, Briley, Marjorie, Elizabeth, Kelsie, Shannon and Kyle. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Reynold Sharlow and sister, June Rozek.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Ted's life will be held at a later date.
