Theodora Birr

Theodora (Vallas) Birr, 92, of Frankenmuth, Michigan, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, May 15, 2015 with her family by her side. Theodora was born October 5, 1922 to Anthony and Ethel Vallas in Toledo. Teddy worked several years at Swartz Pharmacy and the Polish National Alliance Club on Elm & Bronson, which she managed for several years. Teddy was a fantastic cook known for her homemade apple pies. She loved family card games (penny a point rummy) and she had a passion for bingo. She was also an avid Detroit Tiger baseball fan.

She is survived by her daughter Phyllis (Frank) Lake of Frankenmuth, Michigan and son Bruce (Kathy) Birr of Toledo; sister Gerry Deindoerfer of Port Clinton, sister-in-laws Viola Vallas, Helen Birr and Mary Marsh, brother-in-law William (Kathy) Birr, grandchildren Jay, Jennifer, Angela, Andy and Matt, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, daughter Sondra Marie, brothers Ted, Chris and Bill and sisters Vivian and Marge.

A special thanks to Pastor Jeff Luplow for his kind words and prayers and to all her caregivers throughout the past few years.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 1:30 pm. in the funeral home followed by burial at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
