Thelma Jane Smith

Thelma Jane Smith, 88, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2013. She was born on September 2, 1924 to the late Harry and Goldie Fultz in Perry Township, Ohio. As a toddler, Thelma was adopted by the Bauer Family in Toledo.
She retired from the Toledo Hospital in 1989 after 20 years of service. Thelma was a member of American Turners, where she enjoyed bowling and volleyball. She loved working in her yard and was especially proud of her flower garden.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte; siblings, James, Robert and Margaret and grandchildren, Eric and Tamara. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Fred) Fry and Woody (Helene); grandchildren, Melissa Fry, Mandi Fry and Stephanie Smith; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Katelyn, Logan, Karley, Lydia, Laynie, Abbi, Cody and Hayden and dear friend, Judy.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 24 from 12:00 Noon – 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Entombment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family requests memorial donations be made to: Toledo Animal Shelter, 640 Wyman Street, Toledo, OH 43609 or Maumee Valley Save-a-Pet, 5250 Hill Avenue, Toledo, OH 43615.
