Terry D. Newby

Terry D. Newby, age 73, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at his daughter's home. He was born on May 18, 1950 to William and Lela (Cupp) Newby in Monroe, Michigan. He graduated in 1968 from Monroe High School. Terry worked at the Walmart Company for over 16 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, being on the water and going to baseball games. Terry was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Terry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Barbier; twin sister, Mary McCormick; and brothers, Eddie, Bobby, and Donnie Newby. Left to cherish Terry's memory are his loving wife of almost 46 years, Carol Newby; daughter, Malina (Craig) Staten; grandsons, Quincey, Kamren, and Xavier; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Barbier; sisters, Betty Risden and Barbara (John) Murray; sister-in-law, Maria Newby; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
