Terry A. Kinsey
Terry A. Kinsey, age 67, of Toledo, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 7, 1941 to Melvin and Margaret (Hoel) Kinsey in Monroe, Michigan. Terry was a graduate of Monroe High School in 1959 where he played basketball. He received his mechanical and electrical engineering degrees from the University of Toledo where he was also in ROTC. Terry was employed with the former Haughton Elevator Company for 20 years and then with the City of Toledo for 19 years as the Operations Manager of the Facilities Department, retiring in 2007. He coached little league basketball and baseball in the 1980's for Washington Local Schools. Terry loved to bowl and was on a men's league in the 1970's and 1980's. He was an avid golfer and was on a men's league in the 1990's. Terry was also a member of the Tamaron Country Club in the 1980's. He enjoyed playing chess, cards, board games and mexican train. Terry was a die-hard Michigan sports fan. He was a caring, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Terry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Kinsey, the love of his life; daughter, Stephanie (T.J.) Gratcl; sons, Stephen (Andrea) Kinsey and Randy Kinsey; grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Chelsea and Noah Petrillo; John, Jake and Emily Gratcl and Nicole, Kayte and Ava Kinsey; sisters, Karen (Don) Watrous and Candy (Matt) Gray; nieces and nephews, Abby and Gordon Gray and Shelly (Mark) Coleman; and special first cousin, Miriam Taylor.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Chuck Estep of Bridgepoint Church. Interment will take place in LaSalle Township Cemetery, Erie, Michigan.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Terry's family doctor, Dr. Donald Vogel, the Promedica Staff at Toledo and Flower Hospitals and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Mari Ann S. and Karen C. for all of their loving care and support given to Terry and his family through this difficult time.
