Ted Franks

December 22, 1957 — January 7, 2019

Ted Franks, who had just turned 61 on December 22, 2018 recently passed away on January 7, 2019, following a battle with heart and kidney problems.

Ted was proceeded in death by his parents, Ray and Esther (Drewicz) Franks. He is survived by sister Marge (Bill) Goldstein, Brothers Tom (Karen), Dennis (Karen), and Rodney (Tammy) Franks, sixteen nieces and nephews, seventeen great nieces and nephews and two great, great nieces and nephews of whom had many awesome adventures with Uncle Ted including attending concerts, theatre, haunted houses, game nights, and of course the famous group sleepovers. With his family and a multitude of friends he was often the "life of the party".

Ted attended St. Stanislaus and St. Anthony's Elementary schools and took great pride in being an alter boy. A 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School, he developed his love of music, most especially marching band and polka music. He played the tuba, accordion, organ, piano and several horns. Upon graduation Ted led two polka bands, the most popular being "The TJ's" while continuing his education at The University of Toledo. In addition to his musical interests, Ted also enjoyed bowling and playing pool. Ted was a kind and gentle man, loved by all his family and friends and those that met him. His harmony in life was the music he brought to us, as he performed the music for family weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and other special events.

Ted found his true calling with a career that extended more than 40 years in the Food Service Industry, learning his trade by working hard and long hours to become a General Manager at many local food venues. He also managed many industry leading corporate owned food companies nationwide, including managing/owning local food satellites in factories such as the Blade, NFO Research and Chrysler. Ted's leadership helped develop many individuals' careers in the food industry. Ted's Kapusta and homemade Kielbasa will be missed amongst a mass of people that had the joyful opportunity to taste it. After retiring from the food industry, Ted became a "secret shopper" and worked for the Toledo Board of Elections.

Any memorial donations may be directed to the Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association, Central Catholic High School Marching Band, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, or the Seagate Food Banks of Northwest Ohio.

There will be a Celebration Of Ted's Life at the Fourteenth Ward Old Times Association located at 2388 Airport Highway, 12:30-4 pm on Saturday, January 19.
