Tammy Jo Buehler (Appling), Age 60, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2018. Born January 30, 1958 to Donald "Glen" and Marjorie (Bly) Appling in Toledo, OH. She graduated from Waite High School where she did art, gymnastics, basketball and played the flute. Tammy was offered a scholarship to an art college but her great love for family and children lead her down another road. For over 30 years she drove bus and operated buildings for Toledo Public Schools.
Tammy had an uncanny ability to reach people with her kindness and amazing smile in a deeply positive way. As the "cookie lady" she baked over a dozen different kinds of treats for Christmas each year. She gave them to family, friends, co-workers and the kids that were lucky enough to ride on her bus route. Her energy was endless as she was on the go visiting with family and friends, running, walking, biking, kayaking and talking…LOTS of talking. She faced each of life's challenges with unyielding strength. If there was music playing, you could count on her to be the first one out on the dance floor.
This sweet woman will be dearly missed by her husband and dance partner, Pete: daughter, Stephanie (Dane) Marsee, son, Chad Szymanski, mother, Marge, brother, Ronnie (Darlene) Appling, sisters; Terry (Doug) Snider, Linda (Vince) Morgillo, Patricia Klatt, Julie (John) Adams, Sandy (Larry) Nelson, brothers-in-law; John and Bill Buehler, sisters-in-law; Elaine (John) Crammond, Jean (Joe) Papp, her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family, friends and others whose lives Tammy touched are invited to a visitation from 2-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home's Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614. Interment will be private.
Memorial tributes may be directed to The Victory Center at 5532 W. Central Ave., Suite B, Toledo, OH 43615 where Tammy enjoyed yoga, art classes and massage. Please also consider the Ovarian Cancer Connection or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
The family sends a warm thank you to the loving and caring individuals who helped take care of Tammy during her time, including: Dr. Garth Phibbs, all caregivers at ProMedica's Toledo Hospital, The Victory Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio and especially "Team Tammy".
