Sylvia Mary (Spenthoff, Waganfeald) Szymczak, age 86, of Sylvania, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born on November 21, 1919 to Edward and Emma (Schlagheck) Spenthoff in Toledo. She was the youngest and sole survivor of her 11 siblings. Sylvia enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her loving family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilben Waganfeald and John Szymczak, and her 11 brothers and sisters.
Sylvia is survived by her loving family, daughter: Barbara Kunkel and Sylvia (Patrick) Sanford; sons: Gerald, William, James (Lynn) Waganfeald ; step-daughters: Ellen Clark, of W. Palm Beach, FL and Joanne (James) Dougherty, of Miami, FL.; 26 grandchildren; and 44 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Friday, October 27, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 2 - 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
