Susie Thurston

Susie M. Thurston, age 80, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. She was born on July 19, 1931 to Charles and Helen (Mumford) Pool in Deerfield, Michigan. Susie loved to cook, bake and sew. She also loved the Lord. Susie enjoyed caring for people and helping in any way she could, she had a heart of gold. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Susie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Thurston and son, Steve Thurston. Susie is survived by her loving children, Sam Thurston, Dan Thurston, Joy (Ken) Varney and Mark (Carolyn) Thurston; grandchildren, Kristi, Jamie, Paige, Julia, Sean, Rachel, Andrew, Jonathan, Brian, Tiffany and Timothy; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Avery (Nora) Pool; sisters, Charlene (Phil) Boekeloo and Mary Harris; and many other family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
