Susan W. Zelienka, passed away on August 18th, 2010 in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on October 5th, 1915 in Yonkers, New York to John and Anna (Babyar) Warnock.
Susan held various secretarial positions in New York City during World War II. She married Dr. Joseph J. Zelienka in 1948 and moved to Chicago where they raised their daughter, Sharon. In Chicago she worked at the National Association of Retail Grocers and the American Dietetic Association. Susan retired at the age of 79 years. Her lively walk, friendly smile and delicious cooking will be remembered by family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Scott) Thornton of Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Katherine (Jeff) Greeno of Toledo and Robert (Sandi) Lipovsky of Eagle River, Alaska, great grandchildren, Hannah Collins; Kayla and Abigail Lipovsky; sisters-in-law, Christina Zelienka and Ann Warnock; godchildren, Dorothy Bertha; Michael Sabanosh; James (Kay) Zelienka; Jack (Mona) Zelienka and Marion Harding. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years, Joseph Zelienka; parents, parents-in-law; sisters, Anna (Michael) Sabanosh and Betty (Paul) Tallo; brothers, Michael Warnock; John (Jean) Warnock; George Warnock and Paul Warnock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Olga (Rev. John) Kovacik; Anna (Rev. Andrew) Mazak and John Zelienka.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
