Susan Jane Purney

Susan J. "Sue" Purney, age 68, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born on October 20, 1948 to Amos M. and Alice (Sneyd) Casteel in Adrian, Michigan. She was a graduate of Sylvania High School and worked for Foodtown for over 30 years as a bookkeeper; later she retired from Wal Mart.

Sue had a heart of gold, always putting others needs before her own, especially her furry friends. She enjoyed dancing and music and playing computer games with her online friends. She was a devoted mother, a caring grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory is her longtime companion, Ronald "Ron" Nevers; daughters, Penny (Mike) Carroll and Lisa (Jeremy) Hopkins; son, Ronnie (Karen) Nevers; grandchildren, Michael (Tera) Carroll, Stephanie Carroll and Lily Katona; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Cole and Lydia Carroll and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Alice Casteel.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jean Doebler officiating.

Friends are invited to join the family for Sue's Graveside Service on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan.
