Susan Jane King-Brubaker, age 77, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away January 16, 2025, in Farmington, Michigan. Susan was born February 5, 1947, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Jane (Randolph) King.
Susan graduated from Bowsher High School in 1965 and furthered her education with courses at the University of Toledo.
Susan's professional journey saw her working in several secretarial and clerical positions, including notable roles at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library and The Collaborative. Her professionalism and dedication were evident in all her endeavors, reflecting her strong work ethic and love for her community.
A woman of faith, she was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Church, she nurtured her faith and spirituality, contributing to the warmth of her church family.
Outside of her professional life, Susan was a woman of many passions. An avid reader, she often found solace within the pages of books. Her love for travel and cruising took her to various destinations, enriching her life experiences and providing countless stories to share.
A talented craftswoman, Susan had a knack for sewing and creating handmade treasures. She participated in numerous craft shows, showcasing her delightful creations that included everything from teddy bears and tote bags to aprons, hats, scarves, and stunning table runners. Each piece was a testament to her artistic spirit, crafted with love and attention to detail. Her gift-wrapped packages were not just gifts; they were works of art.
Susan's legacy will be remembered not just in the beautiful items she created, but in the lives she touched with her kindness, creativity, and unwavering spirit. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and the joy she brought to every occasion.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Kimberly (Jerry) Geck, Melissa Duncan, Matthew (Kandi) Duncan; granddaughter, Zoe Geck; step-grandson Tyler Wilson; her brother, Dr. Kevin King; and sister-in-law, Cynthia King.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Philip Brubaker; her sister, MaryBeth DeWood and twin brother, Timothy King.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2950 Ilger Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43606, at 10:00 am. Following Mass, Susan will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
