Sunday O. Oshodin

October 6, 1953 — August 21, 2020

His life was well lived and well loved! The Lord called him home in a peaceful manner at the Laurel ProMedica Hospice, with his family by his side on Friday, August 21, 2020 in his 66th year.

This gentle, caring man has left a permanent mark etched in our hearts and will be greatly missed by his family. Sunday was married to Christie Okoyomo for 39 years that produced four boys, Sunny Omo, Chris Osa, Jason Ehi and Kester Efe Oshodin.

He was the son of the late Madam Omosigho Grace and Chief Frank Idahosa Oshodin, predeceased by his precious sister Ameighor. Sunday is survived by his elder brother, Dr. Abifade Oshodin, whom he adored and loved dearly; many siblings, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunties, cousins and friends.

Born in Nigeria and immigrated to the USA in 1977, he attended Owen's College and the University of Toledo, College of Engineering. Sunday worked at the Toledo Club for 25 years and later established his own Sunday Cleaning business with over 20 employees. He was very hardworking, had strong work ethics and would go beyond the call of duties to please his clients.

Sunday loved life to the fullest. He was a fashion icon, made sure he always looked his best. Sunday was a social butterfly, enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. He was always the life of any party, loved to have fun, dance both at home and parties. Sunday was a cheerful giver ready to help anyone in need. He loved and cared for his siblings to the very end.

Of all the associations he had membership, The Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan was his favorite. Sunday loved the camaraderie, developed extraordinarily strong bonds with the members, and would clear his schedule to make sure nothing interfered with his attendance. He always looked forward to joining his brothers and sisters as he would say. He could not wait!

Sunday was very nurturing as it showed in his gardening. He loved growing plants, was very meticulous at making sure they were properly cared for. Sunday above all was deeply passionate and proud of his granddaughters, Jade, Aubrey and Ivie. His wonderful daughters-in-law, Kathie Oshodin and Diana Oshodin.

The family will receive guests on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Sunday are asked to consider ProMedica Hospice.

Our family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Laurel Nursing Home on Byrne Road and ProMedica Hospice for their great care in the last couple months of his life. We are sincerely grateful to the wonderful staff who not only gave us hope, but also comforted and cared for him in his last days.

Sunday will forever be remembered for his love of life, caring heart, always happy spirit and his smiles. Although our hearts are heavy with pain, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven reuniting with his parents. No more pain. Rest in Peace.
