Stephen Allen Kinsey was born November 25, 1968, in Toledo, Ohio. He was the middle child from the union of Terry and Joyce (Sutton) Kinsey.
He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1987, where he excelled on the baseball team, pitching a no-hitter in 1986. He also was on the school golf team.
Steve continued his love of both of those sports into adulthood. He played on many golf leagues around the city. Most of all, he coached all three of his daughters in softball, instilling his love of sports in each of them.
Steve was meticulous when it came to yard work and took pride in working in the yard. He also had an eye for home improvement and was great at interior house painting-you could often find him doing projects for his daughters. All of that went better for him as long as he could play his favorite music (Kiss, Grateful Dead, etc.) full blast!
His early years of employment began at Black Diamond Lawn Service. After earning an associate’s degree at the University of Toledo, he spent 22 years as Sales Manager for Professional Electrical Products Co., better known as Pepco, in Toledo.
Stephen passed away July 9, 2024 at his home.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Nicole (Jacob) Scally, Kayte and Ava Kinsey, all in the Toledo area, his mother, Joyce, of Toledo, his sister, Stephanie Kinsey, his brother, Randy (Lindsay) Kinsey, his nieces and nephews, Jessica Liberty, Nick Petrillo, Chelsea Petrillo, and Noah Petrillo, and two aunts, Karen (Don) Watrous and Candy (Matt) Gray.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Terry.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 16, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43623.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Pastor Anthony Scott will be officiating.
A graveside service will follow at LaSalle Township Cemetery, LaSalle, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for their charity of choice.
