Stephen E. Cook, age 62, of Sylvania Twp., peacefully departed this world on Friday, January 21, 2011, in his Florida home after a long, difficult battle with lung cancer.
Steve will be forever missed by Debbie, his wife of 27 years and daughter,
Stephanie. Also surviving Steve are sons, Matt and Chris; brothers, Bill, Mike,
Bob; sisters, Gloria, Judy, Trish, Linda; 58 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great
nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. Steve was preceded in death by his
parents, Ray and Dorothy; two brothers, Jimmy and Tom, and sister, Sally.
Steve was born and lived in Toledo most of his life. Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army and is a two-tour Vietnam Veteran. He hired into Ford's Maumee Stamping Plant in the 70's and retired 32 years later when the plant closed. He was a member of the Maumee Elks and enjoyed all sports. An avid golfer, Steve played many pristine courses throughout the U.S.
Generous and fun-loving, he appreciated the little things in life and loved to make
people laugh. Steve enjoyed family, friends, good food, great restaurants, good
movies, quiet moments, barbequing to perfection, the sand and surf and walks
along the Florida seashores. His big brown eyes, bright smile, loving personality will be deeply missed.
The family will receive guests Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will follow in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at Noon on Saturday in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park where Military Honors will be rendered.
