Stephan P. Christ of Toledo, OH, passed away suddenly December 10, 2021, surrounded by family, peacefully taking his last breath while holding hands with his loving wife who stood by his side comforting him in death as in life.
Steve was born May 12, 1949 and was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and LaVean E. Christ.
After high school graduation he worked for DeVilbiss Mfg Co., subsequently he went back to school earning his Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in 1995 from the University of Toledo. Steve then worked for Marblelife and retired from Lakefront Lines/Coach America in 2018.
Steve was a talented musician playing in bands around Toledo throughout his younger years. He was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Steve loved a good game of poker and getting together often with lifelong friends. He collected rocks, science fiction novels, coins and even though he was a man of few words he enjoyed witty conversations.
He taught his family many life lessons such as the importance of returning overpayment of change even if you have to walk all the way back to return it, to take the motorcycle ride out west to Sturgis, to listen to the stories of Lake Wobegone on the drive back from camping, venison tastes just like hamburger if they don't know its venison, naps matter, don't let your husband start a kitchen remodel with a time frame of less than 9 years, never answer the jeopardy questions out loud unless you are sure you have the correct answer, and a glass of chocolate milk or a cold beer is a perfect way to end the day, either way choose wisely.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Irene; children, Jennifer (Timothy) Morran, Angela (Todd) Jimison, Stephanie (Michael) Todd, and Adam (Mary) Christ; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff), Jordan (Anna), Justus (Sarah), Olivia, Julian, Evelyn, Grayson and Emily; great-grandchildren, Barrett and Madelaine; sister, Donna Vasquez; brothers, Robert (Kathy) Christ and Gregory (John Irwin) Christ; many much-loved nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and faithful furry companion, Lyla. Knowing and loving each one of you was the great success story of his life.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home, ending with the Rosary being recited.
Steve's family would like to express their profound gratitude to the Flower Hospital ER Dr. Chris and staff and to ProMedica Hospice especially Victoria and Chaplain Stephen Johnson for their kindness and compassion.
