Sidney R. Tregillis

July 16, 1948 — September 4, 2021

Sidney Rowe Tregillis, 73, died from cancer in Sylvania, Ohio on September 4, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice with loving family by his side.

Born in Virginia, Minn., he lived in nearby Hoyt Lakes until his junior year in high school when the family moved to Jackson, Ohio, where Sid graduated from high school in 1966.

He moved to Wauseon, Ohio to work at German Village Products, Inc., a pasta production company started by his father, Stanley. Sid held the position of Vice President, until the company was sold to the Campbell Soup Co., where he then served as manager of scheduling and planning, until he retired in 2004.

It was in Wauseon where Sid met and married the former Marilynn McDonald and this year they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Marilynn, along with their daughter, Maren, survive and reside in Sylvania.

Imbued with the woodsy spirit of Minnesota's Iron Range, Sid loved to fish and introduced his Ohio buddies to the beautiful and bountiful northern lakes in his native state. Annual fishing trips that began in 1974 still continue, now in his honor. Sid adorned his study with carvings and paintings of beavers to remind him of his beloved northern woods.

Extremely intelligent and an avid reader, Sid was soft-spoken with a wry wit, quick with a pun and unfailingly gentlemanly and generous.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Marie Tregillis; sister, Peggy Kapsh of Cottage Grove, Minn., and brother, John of Coon Rapids, Minn.

Also surviving are sisters, Marie (Joe) Hallett, of Westerville, Ohio; Lizbeth (Paul) White, of Rockwood, Tenn.; and Jean Cole, of Ely, Minn.; sister-in-law, Donna McDonald, of Toledo, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Daryl McDonald (Leslie) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life to honor Sid will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo OH 43617 (419-392-9500).
