Shirley Sturgill

Shirley M. Sturgill, age 68, of Toledo, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 8, 2013 at home in the arms of her loving husband, Ronald. She was born August 30, 1944 in Inwood, Iowa to Guywood and Ida Kuyper. Shirley was very active at Maumee United Methodist Church serving as wedding coordinator, organist, funeral luncheon coordinator, covenant singers coordinator, wherever and whenever she was needed. She loved to help others, and was very creative with music, food, flowers and scrapbooking. Shirley was a member of the E.A.A. Chapter 582, and served as past secretary and also planned and carried out many activities with the organization. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, Ron and her adoring children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, of 41 years, Ronald Sturgill; children, Tami (Alan) Ellison and Deborah (Bryan) Wisbon; stepson, Bruce Sturgill; grandchildren, Michael Mitchell, Shannon (Matt) Bova, Joshua Pelton, Dustin (Michelle) Ellison, Samantha Wisbon and Robert Ellison; great grandchildren, Gage Ellison, Reese Bova, Gia and Milania Ellison; sister, Lois Hoffman; nephew, Brad (Michelle) Stensland; great nephew, Brandon Stensland.

The family will receive guests Monday, February 11, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The family will also receive guests Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
