Shirley J. Sroczynski, age 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Kingston Care Center, Sylvania with loving family by her side. She was born on November 13, 1936 to Alfred and Catherine (Lynch) Berger in Toledo, OH. Shirley worked as a professional secretary throughout her career. She retired from Owens Illinois in the legal department in 1990. After retirement, Shirley went back to work at HCR ManorCare for 14 years, retiring again in 2006. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Shirley was active in volunteering and supporting the ministries of the church and Emmanuel Christian School. She enjoyed going to Camp Patmos for over 25 summers for family camp. Shirley's smile, kind spirit and giving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sroczynski; daughter, Vicki Lynn Sroczynski and siblings, John Berger, Olive Steele, Lydia Finkenbiner, Glenn Berger and Mildred Enslow. Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her loving children, JoAnn (Keith) Grindle and Donald Sroczynski; grandchildren, Ryan (Zoe) Parquette, and Rylee and Jarrett Grindle; sister-in-law, Marilyn Berger; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
