Shirley A. Perna

Shirley A. Perna, age 86, of Waterville, OH passed away December 11, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 19, 1938 in Toledo to Frank and Anna (Jagodzinski) Michalski. Shirley was a long time employee of Toledo Public Schools at Bowsher High School. She provided support for many years with Susan G. Komen for breast cancer survivors. Shirley was also involved in many local charity organizations. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Shirley was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. A loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Shirley loved spending time with her family and providing Sunday dinners. 

In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Perna and brother, Kenneth Michalski. She is survived by her children, Anthony (Kim) Perna, Timothy Perna and Gina (Jeff)Lawyer; grandchildren, Travis Perna, Zachary Perna, Hannah Perna and Gabrielle Hirth; great grandson, Grayson Miller and brother, Dennis (Kate) Michaels.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). A Scripture Service will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family would like to thank Shirley's long time caregiver, Lisa Gilson along with her Hospice Nurse, Lisa and Hospice Aide, Jessica. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Shirley's memory.
