Shirley A. (VanVoorhies) Maldonado
Shirley A. Maldonado, age 63, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Perrysburg, with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 9, 1954 to Robert and Dolores (Moore) VanVoorhies in Toledo. Shirley was a graduate of Bedford High School and later furthered her education in the area of dental hygiene. She worked throughout the area as a dental hygienist for 25 years, retiring from Dr. Kent J. Benham's office in 2017. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, as she was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending bible study, fishing, camping, and scratching winning lottery tickets.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jesus "Jesse" Maldonado; children, Jamie Maldonado (Missy Monroe), Brent (Adrienne) Maldonado and Alyssa Maldonado (Jack Palmer); grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Mackenzie, Ryleigh, Aerionna, Olyvia, Oakley and baby John, arriving in November; mother, Dolores VanVoorhies; siblings, Bob (Lynn) VanVoorhies, Sandy (Mike) Amborski and Kelli (Anthony) Henszey; many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, William.
The family will receive guests from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Her funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Bedford Township Veterans Center in Temperance.
