Shirley M. Demmy

Shirley M. Demmy, age 79, of Toledo, passed away, Sunday, July 26th, 2009 in her son's home while in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, who we would like to thank for their wonderful work and compassion. She was born October 17th, 1929 to Charles and Mary (Shiffler) Simmons in Toledo, Ohio. Shirley was a longtime member of the Destroyers Escort Sailors Association with her late husband Robert Demmy. In her younger years, Shirley spent many happy hours at the Rollercade, where she was awarded many medals and trophies in roller skate dance. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time at home with her family.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert Demmy; daughter, Deborah Roberts, brother, Charles Simmons and sister, Lois Reetz. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Wayne) Alexander; son, William (Rona) Demmy; grandchildren, Melanie; Brandy; Krista; Christopher; Denise and Deana and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

At Shirley's requests there will be no visitation. A Private Graveside Service will be held for the Family at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
