Shirley S. Kennedy
August 18, 1925 — March 20, 2021
Shirley S. Kennedy, age 95, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Rosary Care Center. She was born on August 18, 1925 to William and Bernice (Sorrell) Shaner in Toledo. Shirley worked as a receptionist for many years at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base during the war and also at Crittenton Services from 1980 – 1989 until she retired. She was a lifetime member of Reformation Lutheran Church. Shirley taught Sunday school at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour for many years as well. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her family. Shirley loved the Lord and her family. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Patrick Kennedy; daughter, Margaret Ann Kennedy; and sister, Bernadine Hopmoen. Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her son, Eric (Jennifer) Kennedy; grandchildren, Sean, Margaret, Elizabeth and Kaleb; brother, William S. (Carol) Shaner; special family friend, Tina Fitzgerald and her family; dear friend, Joanne Krause; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will take place Friday, March 26, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. (For the safety of the Kennedy family and their guests, masks are required with social distancing).
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and care givers at the Rosary Care Center for all of their love, care and support given to Shirley and our family throughout this difficult time.
