Shirley J. (Hapner) Eggleston, age 69, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital. She was born March 6, 1938 to Edward and Fay (Clark) Hepner in Toledo. Shirley had a love of animals and was a receptionist with Western Ave Animal Hospital in Marion, Indiana for 16 years. She was also employed with Kmart in Toledo for 14 years. Shirley was a member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge and St. Stephen Lutheran Church for several years. She enjoyed bowling and spending time in Coldwater Lake, Michigan on family vacations and fishing.
In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Carl E. Comstock and mother-in-law, Edith M. Eggleston. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Eugene J. Eggleston; children, Kimberly (Richard) Hoover; Stephen Miller; William Eggleston; Edward Eggleston; Jean (Willy) Ward and Daniel (Laura) Burke; sister, Carol Comstock; grandchildren, Miranda and Taylor Hoover; Mara and Morgan Ward and Jeremy and Carly Burke and special niece, Karen (Brian) Shaffer.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 3-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 7800 Erie St. in Sylvania. Officiating will be Pastor James Wicker.
Shirley's family would like to thank all the staff at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek for the loving care they provided over the last 10 months, you all are awesome. A special thank you to Jamie, Maria, Lisa, Laura and Kathy for loving Shirley like she was your mom and also to Tanya for making sure Shirley got to "Bingo" every week. We will never forget your kindness and support.
