Shirley Mae Geiman

Shirley Mae Geiman was born in Genoa, Ohio on November 12, 1921. She lived a long and blessed life, departing her earthly home on July 30th at the age of 102. She was the daughter of Alma Rose Jones and Irving Weslyn Jones and the loving sister of her late brothers : Weslyn (aka Bud), Ralph and Charles.

She married Myron William Geiman in October of 1941 and was widowed in November of 2000. They had three children: Sharon, John and Michael. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (late Roy) Stobe her daughter-in law Carolyn (late John) Geiman, and son Michael (Linda) Geiman, her grandchildren: Kenneth, Sheryl (Steven), Eric (Dannette), Drew (Michelle), Christina, Zackary, Jennie and Travis (Kristine); her great-grandchildren: Bradley, Christian, Charlotte, Johanna and Marlow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her son John and her son-in-law Roy.

Shirley was not particularly fond of school but graduated from Dundee High School in Dundee, Michigan. She met Myron at a local dance and they were married in1941. After marrying Myron, she lived in Monroe, Michigan and raised her children there. She was interested in beauty and hair and decided to pursue a career in that field. She graduated from Monroe Beauty School and ended up owning and operating her own beauty shop, Colonial Beauty Shop, in Monroe.

In her spare time, she liked to do oil painting and figurine painting but she was particularly known for her sugar cookies. She loved to make them for every occasion. Shirley was not fond of eating meat, but loved frog legs and three bean salad. She enjoyed eating out with family and friends. She loved buying clothes, but much preferred catalogs to shopping in stores. Shirley loved fashion and was always dressed to the nines.

She lived in several places in Michigan and Ohio. In Michigan these included Samaria, Temperance, Monroe, Dease Lake, West Branch and Morenci. For 20 years she lived in Maumee, Ohio. For the past year she was a resident at Otterbein Senior Living Center in Monclova.

A service will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in LaSalle, Michigan on October 19th, 2024 at 11 a.m.
