Shirley Elizabeth Maxfield

Shirley E. Maxfield, age 88, formerly of Toledo, passed away Friday, November 12th, 2010 at Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born October 26th, 1922 to William and Emma (Matthewson) Beebe in Manito, Illinois. Shirley was a longtime retail clerk with the former Tiedtke's and she was also employed with Netcraft . She was a 72 year member of the Pythian Sisters, serving as a past secretary. Shirley was also a member of the First Mates of the Seaway Commanders for many years. During her many years as a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church she was involved with Eldersgates, the Euchre Club and the Armchair Theater Group. Most importantly she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Earl H. Maxfield and brothers, Lloyd and Donnie. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Daralee) Maxfield and James (Dona) Maxfield; grandchildren, Rick (Jenny) Maxfield; Kimberly (Nick) Williams; Tara Kuron; Jennifer Maxfield; Laura (Jason) Finn and Sarah Potts; great grandchildren, Alaina; Stephen; Makenna; Kameron; Hannah; Nicholas; Brendan; Anthony; Kaitlyn and Matthew; siblings, Charlotte (Homer) Martin; Marion (Alan) Henry and Emmett (Helene) Beebe; sister-in-law, Edith Beebe and many extended family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guestsTuesday from 3-9:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4030 Douglas Rd. Officiating Pastor Lilanthi Ward. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
