Shirley E. McLean-Taylor, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 19, 1930 to Louis and Gladys (Kiser) Fleming in Cambridge, Ohio. Shirley was a bus driver for over 20 years with Washington Local Schools until retiring. She was an avid bowler until the age of 80. Shirley enjoyed camping at the Big Sandy KOA campground for 30 years. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother and was also a foster mother to 26 children. Shirley made wedding cakes and loved to knit, crochet and paint. She may have been small, but she was a spitfire that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold McLean; son, Tim McLean; 1 brother; and several sisters. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Harold Taylor; children, Vicki (Steve) Voyantzis, Steve McLean, Terry (Lori) McLean and Mark McLean; grandsons, Benjamin Reece and Mitchell Voyantzis; and sisters, Norma Hall, Barbara (Louis) Meszaros and Pat (Raymond) Creekmore.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
