Shevilla Slaughter, age 62, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away July 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, as she gained her wings. Shevilla was born September 18, 1961 in Toledo, to the late Lilbert and Lois (Yelder) Slaughter.
When able, Shevilla attended Lewis Baptist Church. Anybody that knew Shevilla, knew she loved playing the lottery, especially her scratch offs! She enjoyed watching her soap operas, like Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Shevilla liked being outside doing yard work and tending to her beautiful flowers in the garden.
Family was most important to Shevilla. She loved entertaining and cooking delicious food. Shevilla looked forward to holidays with the family, like the 4th of July, where the family would get together and share laughs and create memories. Sundays were always for the family and when she would make delicious soul food.
Shevilla’s love, smile, and cooking will forever be missed by those who knew her. Until we meet again…
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Ty (Tiffine) Watson, Kenneth (Barb) Watson, and Valentina Slaughter; grandchildren, Kyah, Xavier, Layla, Ra'Vaila, and Mikaeel; great grandchildren, Hadiya, and Ramiya; siblings, Aridian (James) Harper, Mercidee (Floyd) Lewis, Demetrius Slaughter and Michelle Slaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends!
In addition to her parents, Shevilla was also preceded in death by her siblings, Valerie (Ulysee) Harper, Catherine Slaughter, Lilbert Slaughter Jr., Octavia Slaughter, and Michael Slaughter; step-sister, Joan Kelly; and significant others, Danny Maryweather, until his passing, and Charles Smith.
The family will receive guests Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Funeral Services will begin Sunday at 3:00 pm.
