Sharon Susan Wietrzykowski (Ignatowski), of Monclova, passed away October 11, 2016 at Hospice. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 6, 1940 to the late Frank and Julia (Walczak) Ignatowski.
Sharon attended St. Hedwig Parochial school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Casimir "Cas" Wietrzykowski on May 28, 1960. Cas passed in 1983 after a battle with multiple sclerosis.
Sharon pursued a career in the health care industry beginning at St. Vincent Hospital as an EKG Tech in 1958. She worked 25 years at The Toledo Hospital and held various managerial positions but most notably as Administrator Director of Quality Assurance and later as Manager of the Medical Staff Office. Sharon retired in 1989. She returned to the workforce in 1990 seeking out a new opportunity by assisting Family Health Plan, a local Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), attain National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation status. Accreditation was obtained twice the second being an Excellent NCQA accreditation, the highest rating awarded before the HMO closed in 2004.
In retirement Sharon enjoyed going on casino trips, reading the latest novels and playing challenging computer games. She especially enjoyed going to restaurants with her friends, children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas, Debra (Robert) Bedard, Shari Davis and Kelli (Greg) Hood; grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Davis, Samantha, Jessica and Megan Bedard and Mallory, Casey, Lindsey and Benjamin Hood; sister, Barb Brzozka; aunt, Dorothy Walczak; dear friend, David Zielinski and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Scripture Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Adalbert Parish, 3233 Lagrange Street. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
