Sarah Ann Golatka

Sarah Ann Golatka, age 85, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by love. She was born January 21, 1939, in Flatwoods, Tennessee, to the late Ross and Mamie (Rogers) Chappell. 

As a devoted homemaker, Sarah dedicated her life to caring for her home and raising her children with unwavering commitment and affection. Known for her sweet, humble, and caring personality, Sarah found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was passionate about tending to her garden, where she nurtured beautiful flowers that reflected her vibrant spirit. Sarah's love for nature was matched only by her love for her family. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially during family vacations that created lasting memories.

Throughout her life, Sarah’s proudest accomplishments were being a wife, mom, grandma, and mama. Her family was the heart of her existence, and she poured her love into each loving relationship. Sarah's gentle nature and nurturing heart touched the lives of all who knew her, making her a beacon of light in her family’s life.

As we remember Sarah, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life rich in love, kindness, and family values. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in her journey.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Vicky (Kenneth) Hadley and David (Debbie) Golatka; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren with one on the way; and a sister, Betty Jo.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank Golatka Sr.; son, Joe (Frank) Golatka Jr.; and siblings, Alice, James, Margie, Charlotte, and Tommy. 

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the funeral home, at 12:00 pm. Following the service, Sarah will be laid to rest at Erie Union Cemetery in Erie, Michigan.
