Sandra Ann Willinger

February 1, 1957 — July 15, 2020

Sandra Ann Willinger, age 63, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at her home. She was born February 1st, 1957 in Toledo to Alphonse and Dolores (Schwesinger) Willinger. Sandy was a 1975 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. She went on to achieve the certifications needed to begin a career in the Home Health Care field. Sandy was proud to be employed with Senior Care Management through West Park Place for many years. She was a loving and compassionate person and considered it an honor to be with families, holding their hearts and hands during "end of life" experiences. Sandy will be remembered by many for the endless hours and sleepless nights spent caring for people.

Sandy was an active supporter and member of the BUV (the Bavarian Benevolent Society), and the German American Festival Retirees. In her childhood, Sandy danced with the Bavarian Sports Club Schuplattlers. In her later years, until her mother passed, the two of them spent many Wednesday afternoons socializing and playing cards with the GAF Retirees. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting of all kinds. One of her favorite craft projects was creating ribbon and bead angels, making lapel pins, magnets and ties, that she gifted to many special people in her life. She also loved baking, especially decorated Christmas cookies.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Cindy Willinger, brother-in-law, Jim Clark, nephew, Michael Willinger, and lifelong friend, Emily Douglas. She is survived by her siblings, Joseph (Jan) Willinger of Owensboro, KY; Michael Willinger of Toledo, OH; Linda Clark, of Pyatt, AR, and John (Cheryl) Willinger of Toledo, OH. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Celeste Lucas (Michael), Shannon Jensen (Brandon), Jeremy Willinger (Kari), Rodney Willinger (Tabitha), Andrew Adams (Hannah), Lawrence Willinger, Tiffany Willinger, Marcus Willinger (Hannah), Alicia Kessenger (Devon), Sabrika Willinger, Isaac Willinger, Ceazia Willinger, Melissa Battelline (Brock), Jessica Zubricky (Jim), Melissa Clark, Jimmy Clark, Alison Maples, and Samantha Willinger, as well as 21 loving great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family Marcia and Dick Kaverman, and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Friday, July 24, from 5-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer, Northwest Chapel 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral services and interment will be private. You will need to wear a mask to enter the building. The family appreciates your cooperation.

Given the short amount of time the family has to gather with family and friends, and the lack of places to share flowers with after the gathering, they request any amount you would have spent on cut flowers to be donated instead. Suggested memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Youth Services (JYD) of Toledo or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF) of Toledo in Sandy's memory. She was diagnosed at the young age of 9 with childhood diabetes , and had a lifelong battle with this disease. She would be so happy to see other children have better lives in her honor.

Thank you for being a part of Sandy and her family's lives.
