Sandra (Sandy) Lee Ross was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend during her incredible and joy-filled 75 years of life. Sandy passed away the morning of June 9, 2023, and joined the love of her life, Don Ross Sr., exactly 12 years after his own passing. Her peaceful last moments were spent in her favorite spot: sitting on her back porch.
Sandy was born on September 16, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, the second of four children, her siblings Ellen, Larry, and Loraine. She attended Whitney Vocational High School as part of the class of 1965, outside of which she met her future husband who attended the school across the street.
Her home was always welcoming, the place where everyone stopped by. Her infectious laughter and jokes assured that every moment at Sandy's house was a good one. When she wasn't wreaking havoc on Facebook, Sandy could be found working in her yard, which she took such pride in, playing cards with the Lonely Hearts Club, or making up the most creative games to play with her grandkids. Nothing was too much when it came to the things she'd do for those she loved, whether that was giving the world's greatest, most thoughtful gifts, or never letting a day go by where she didn't say "I love you" and mean it with her whole heart.
Sandy will be remembered for her thoughtful nature, her creativity, her amazing cooking, her outrageous parties, and her constant pranking. But most importantly, Sandy will be remembered by how fiercely she loved her family and how deeply she loved life.
Knowing Sandy was to love Sandy, and she was unequivocally and incredibly loved. Among the countless lives she has touched, Sandy is survived by her son, Don Jr., her daughter, Leigh, her two grandchildren, Jared and Teagan, and siblings Ellen and Larry.
The family will be hosting a celebration of Sandy's life at her home on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of food or payment be made to the St. Michael Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Ottawa Lake, Michigan (https://www.stmichaellcmc.org/outreach).
