Sandra L. 'Sandy" Connors, age 77, of Sylvania OH passed away unexpectedly, on Monday April 28 2014 at Toledo Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 18, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Clifford and Louise (Kestner) Fairbanks.
She graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1955 with honors; she was a socialite, and a member of the bridge club. She became first a wife, then a legal secretary working privately for attorneys and then for Bennett Enterprises where she eventually retired. As a daughter of the great Fairbanks family, Sandra was a part of the prestigious 'Daughters of the American Revolution'. Her father Clifford Fairbanks was a decedent to Former Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks who served under Theodore Roosevelt. The Fairbanks name has the oldest standing wood framed house in the United States located in Dedham, MA.
As a women decedent from the DAR she was more than proud to pass down her family history to her two loving daughters, Cynthia (Leake) Jones and Careen "Cam" Millard. During her life, as a loving partner to Paul Snook, and as a loving mother and grandmother she bought joy to everyone in her life. Teaching her children how to craft and crochet. Letting her grandchildren teach her the best and most entertaining computer games. She always had hobbies and interests. She was a matriarch and loved her family and her pets. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her and called her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear sister, Carolyn Yvonne Koepke and her husband, Robert A. Millard.
Left to cherish her memory is her partner of 37 years, Paul Snook; her beloved daughters, Cynthia (Ken) Jones and Careen "Cam" Millard; cherished grandchildren, Stacie (Alia) Dabanah, Jennifer (Mike) Walz, Jill and Julia Jones, Alec, Bobby and Kayla Douglas; great-grandchildren, Derek and Austin Walz, and Vida Dababnah.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cherry Street Mission.
