Sandra K. Hennessey

July 27, 1950 — March 10, 2023

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in mourning the passing of Sandra Hennessey of Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the age of 72. Sandy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose sole ambition in life was the happiness of her family.

Sandy was born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 27, 1950, to father Roy and mother Julia, accompanied in birth by her twin Jackie, and was blessed to grow up surrounded by many siblings. Born with an insatiable love for Elvis and an unwavering commitment to her weekly Bingo routine, Sandy was a force to be reckoned with. A walking encyclopedia of the neighborhood's latest news and gossip, she could give CNN a run for its money. Sandy's passion for preserving memories was legendary, as her memory box was always brimming with baby shower souvenirs, photographs, and newspaper clippings from decades ago. Her only regret in life was never making it on Cash Explosion, but hey, not everyone can be a winner!

"When I first saw you with your smile so tender, my heart was captured, my soul surrendered."
- Elvis Presley, "It's Now or Never"

The stars aligned just right when Sandy happened to meet Dale, as he had just moved to Toledo, and they were inseparable for 56 years. Their love knew no bounds, and very quickly, they grew their family to include sons Ricky and Randy, who grew up to be just as stubborn and hard-headed, yet adventurous and creative, as their mother. From camping trips to watching her boys play football, Sandy was always there and cheering their boys on.

Their boys went on to become parents themselves, which is when Sandy and Dale officially became Nana and Papa. Sandy was truly a great mom, but she was the world's greatest Nana, who had such love for the whole family that she and Dale built. Every day of the week, their home was filled with rambunctious kids, whether it was their own sons or any number of grandkids and great-grandkids, all having the best time. Her cooking brought everybody together, from her perfectly peppered sunny-side-up eggs to the world's best fried chicken.

Sandy was a woman of strong character and determination, and she was predeceased in death by her beloved, loving husband, Dale; son, Ricky; parents Roy and Julia; siblings Jackie, Eugene, Vivian, Ruby, and Elton. Sandy is survived by her son, Randy; grandchildren, Stephanie, Terra, Jessica, Justin (wife, Lauren), Joshua, and Tiffany (husband, Nathan) as well as her especially beloved great-grandchildren Brailynn, Damian, Bryson, Josiah, Brioni, Isaac, Isaiah, and Isabel; siblings Donald, Virginia, and Shirley; grand puppies and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To say that Sandy was merely a friend would be an understatement. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her, and her kindness knew no bounds. Sandy filled the role of mom and Nana to all who knew her.

As Elvis said during his final tour, "Till we meet again, may God bless you. Adios." Rest in peace, Sandy, and thank you for gracing us with your beautiful life.
