Sandra (Barbara) Ancrum-Nichols

Sandra (Barbara) Ancrum-Nichols of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 3, 2024, at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born in Charleston, SC to the late Eddie Samuel and Janie Hymes Wright.

Barbara attended St. Johns High School in Johns Island, SC; after graduating she pursued a career in Education. As a retired Head Start teacher, Barbara shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over the years. Without hesitation, she selflessly opened her home to single mothers in the community, helping to care for their young children. Her honesty and fearless attitude inspired all that crossed her path. A "fashionista", Barbara's unique and creative style commanded attention in every room she entered. She will be remembered for her warm heart, amusing sense of humor that could make anyone laugh and smile, and unwavering commitment to faith and family.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory daughter, Monesha Ancrum; former spouse, Sean Nichols; brother, Edward Wright (Anke); sister, Priscilla Fletcher; nephews, Isaac Saxby Jr., Aaron Wright; nieces LaToya Boyd (Keith), Cherice Saxby, Janay Wright, Alena Wright, Adrena Wright, Alonda Wright; special friend, Maurice Bunn, Christy Barlow and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; former husband, Joseph Ancrum Jr.; aunt, Lydia Simmons and cousin, Gerald Hymes.

Sandra (Barbara) Ancrum-Nichols though no longer with us, her spirit will forever burn bright in our hearts. May she rest easy in grace and love and shine down on all of us.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on August 16, 2024 beginning with a visitation at 11:00 AM, services at 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdown Bivd, Toledo, OH 43614.
