Samuel D. Bomar, age 91, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Sunday morning March 8, 2021 at Swan Creek Care Center. He was born February 6, 1930 in Toledo to Oliver and Bernice (Gibson) Bomar. Samuel was a 1948 graduate of Whitmer High School and married his high school sweetheart Charlotte Weatherford on July 1, 1950. Together they made their home in Toledo and raised their son and daughter. Samuel was employed with Libby Owens Ford retiring after 30 years of service. He was also a US Army Veteran.
Samuel and Charlotte enjoyed traveling with their children on family vacations to California, North Carolina and Florida, visiting family and friends. In their later years they were members of a motor home club.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather cherishing the time he was able to spend with his family. Samuel was so proud of his children and grandchildren, traveling to many of their school activities as well as, following them through little league, high school and college sporting events over the years. He also was a talented musician and a self-taught guitar player. He was a fan of Blue Grass music and always looked forward to attending Blue Grass festivals throughout the area.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was just recently preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Charlotte (Weatherford) Bomar; brothers, Oliver Bomar, Jr. and Orville Bomar and sister, Jeannette Cousino.
Samuel is survived by his son, David (Linda) Bomar of Dallas, GA and daughter, Beverly (Gary) Durham of Ottawa Lake, MI; grandchildren, Matt Durham, Jamie (fiancé Ashley) Durham, Brad (Michele) Bomar, Sara (Richard) Dunn and Andrew (Laisa) Bomar; great grandchildren, Ty Durham, Reylin Durham, Sydney Durham, Brady Durham, Eli Durham, Jack Dunn, Marley Dunn, Taylor Dunn, Max Bomar and Leo Bomar and great-great grandchild, Mason Johnson.
There will be a Private Graveside Service. Interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
