Samuel J. Besase, age 97, of Toledo passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Genesis Healthcare in Sylvania.
Sam was born on June 21, 1918 in Toledo to Anthony and Tana (Lamantia) Besase. He was a lifelong resident of Toledo and was in sales his whole career. He married his wife, Ann (Ballou) on November 13, 1944 and they were married for over 71 years. Sam was always singing and ready to tell a joke and he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and dancing.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, son, Anthony, brothers, Anthony J. "Whitey", George "Red", John J. "Misery", Joseph A. "Penay", sisters, Pauline "Polly" West, Anna M. Besase (Russo), Mary E. Besase (Monica), Thelma "Mabel" Besase, and Augusta "Gusta" (Welker). He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Besase, son, Sam Besase Jr (Joyce L.) daughter, Pat Karpinski (Dave), step-son, Robert Besase (Brenda), 5 grandchildren, Jeffery Besase, Gregory Besase, Teri Paul, Mike Karpinski and David Karpinski, great grandchildren, Brent Besase, Samantha Paul Landis, Tyler Paul and Michelle Karpinski, great- great grandson, Camden, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Sam's life will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 12-noon at Lucarelli Hall; 4526 Monroe Street Toledo above Al's Upholstery. Please use side door and free valet parking will be provided.
