Sammy T. McCadney, 68, of Toledo, Ohio passed away April 19, 2013 at The University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1945 in Ripley, Tennessee to the late Freddie Lee and Era Lee McCadney.
Sam graduated from Halls High School in Halls, Tennessee where he was a basketball star and held the school's all-time leading scoring record for many years.
He then served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. Sam also served during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge after completing his service. In recognition as a U.S. Armed Forces Veteran, Sam will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
Sam was employed with Gerber Foods, Unit Cast and JB Hunt Trucking Company.
Sam met the love of his life, Ella Mae Divinity in Rochester, New York where they married. They moved to Toledo in 1970.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Lee and Era Lee McCadney, son Tyrone N. McCadney, Sr., sisters Ossie Briggs, Freddie Mae Alexander, Vivian Sullivan and brothers V'Nars McCadney and Vern McCadney.
He is survived by spouse, Ella D. McCadney, son Samuel A. McCadney, daughters Lynnette M. (George) Hair, Tanya N. McCadney, Denyce L. Calvin of Toledo and Parnice L. (Roosevelt) Andrews of Dacula, GA. Sisters, Ida Beatrice McCadney and Dean Loisteen (Bobby) Morgan of Toledo and brother Rev. Willie (Ida Mae) McCadney of Gates, TN and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive guests Saturday April 27, 2013 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's COGIC at 5509 Dorr St. Toledo, OH. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m.
