Samir "Mir-Mir" Burkett, age 7, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006 in St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. He was born April 17, 1999 to Elisabeth Ankney and Kamel Burkett in Toledo. Samir was a second grade student at Wernert Elementary School. He enjoyed skateboarding and spending time with his brother Jesse playing paintball. Samir was a loving child who loved spending time with his family, especially his sisters and gramma. Samir was a very outgoing person and had the talent of being able to strike up a conversation with everyone. He loved math and had aspirations of becoming a banker. Samir spent a lot of time with his step-dad Tom doing "guy things".
Samir is survived by his loving siblings, Jesse Frost; Sammyia Burkett; Amal Burkett; Shane Wineinger; Troy (Shelly) Myers; Basema Smidi; Mohammed Burkett; Omar Burkett; mom and step-dad, Elisabeth "Libi" and Tom Wineinger; grandmothers, Jacqueline Foster; Roxanne Allen and Susan Ankney; aunts, Juanita "Bo" Dillard; Ruth (Dewey) Arquette; Toni Barefoot; Rubyjean Stamper and Crystal Dewalp and Freda McDougal; uncles, Kevin Ankney; Bud, Ankney, Jr.; Thad Wineinger; Tim Wineinger; Rich Stamper; Tony Gregory and Mike Burkett; "bigger cousin", Andrea Ankney; and many other cousins and dear family members.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for their loving care and support.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Wineinger.
