Sam (Sammy G.) Reynolds, age 81, died peacefully at home in Toledo, OH on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Sam was born February 4, 1941, to Orin and Ida (Rothlisberger) Reynolds. He married Gina Dreier on February 2, 1991. Sam grew up in the Reynolds Corners area of Toledo, graduating from Rogers High School in 1959. After attending one year at Capital University, Sam joined the United States Navy to "see the world" as a corpsman. He was stationed in Chicago for four years, and eventually moved back to Toledo. Sam served on the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department as a firefighter from 1967 to 1989. In 1974, Sam entered and completed their first Toledo paramedic class with eleven other firefighters.
He was preceded in death by parents, Orin and Ida Reynolds; brother, Orin Jr.; step-mother, Blanche (Wollenbecker) Reynolds; parents-in-law, Alden and Lillian Dreier; sister-in-law, Annette Dreier; brother-in-law, Norm (Freddie) Dreier; and his wife, Janice. Sam is survived by his wife, Gina; former spouse, Maurine (Grau) Reynolds; their daughters, Katherine Reynolds and Jamie (Dean) Scheumann; grandchildren, Emma (Chase) Casteel, Lucas Scheumann and Rachel Scheumann; sisters-in-law, Joan (Bill) Romstadt, Mary Sue Ostafi, Terri (Jim) Ballantyne, Martha Dreier (Russ Strausbaugh) and Carrie Magnuson; brother-in-law, Tom (Gemma) Dreier; and surrogate grandchildren, Heidi and Matthew Dreier.
A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Premier Banquet Hall, 4480 Heatherdowns Boulevard, Toledo, with the Last Alarm Service at 4:00 p.m.
