Sam Petersen, age 69, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born November 22, 1942 in Toledo to Everett and Mary Jane (Miller) Petersen. Sam was a proud graduate of Glenwood Elementary and Scott High School in 1961. He received his Associates Degree in Business from the University of Toledo in 1988. Sam was employed by Jeep, Railroad, Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, Medical Mutual of Ohio, formerly Blue Cross and Blue Shield. After his acceptance of Jesus as his Savior in 1975, Sam dedicated many years to the treatment of troubled boys at Hickory Farms Home for Boys in Swanton, Ohio. He worshiped at Westside Community Church and loved his home group.
Left to cherish his memory is Sam's wife of 49 years, Myrna (Pluckhorn) Petersen; daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Neeld, Monica (Larry) Lindhurst, Cynthia Petersen; grandchildren, Aric (Teri), Zakary, Kaleb, Emily, Becca and Allison; great grandchildren, Riley, Raegan and Caydin; brother, Charles (Cheryl) Petersen.
A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Westside Community Church, 6045 West Bancroft, Toledo, Ohio 43615. Sam's family takes comfort in the knowledge that his strong faith was his "anchor" and is celebrating with Jesus in Heaven.
