Ruth Dawn Whinnery

Ruth Dawn Whinnery, 85, of Erie, MI, passed away December 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born July 12, 1937 in Toledo to Ferdie and Florence (Hall) Heiserman.

She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School. In 1956 she married her love, Denith Jr. Together they had two children, Denith III and Rozella. The family loved traveling the country in their camper. Ruth especially enjoyed being a Cub Scout den mother and booking bands for teen town. She also worked on cars and played football. Hollywood Ruth was her nickname after she scored the winning touchdown. Denith and Ruth continued traveling throughout the country. She loved her family and friends. Ruth was always ready for a casino visit and a margarita at one of her favorite places. She enjoyed re-runs of Two and a Half Men, and would wake up at all hours to watch her favorite show. Denith and Ruth were blessed with two grandchildren, Basil and Miranda, along with a great-grandchild, Daxton. Ruth retired from Lehn and Fink and enjoyed working at Northtowne Meadows as a pool monitor and office helper, where she met many friends, later in life.

Left to forever cherish her memory are her children, Denith III (Sue) and Rozella; grandchildren, Basil and Miranda; great-grandchild, Daxton; and brother, Larry (Jan).

Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Denith Jr.; parents, Ferdie and Florence Heiserman; and brother, Clifford.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 5, 2022, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300) where Funeral Services will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to ProMedica Hospice in Ruth's memory.
